Oil Analysis Service

Everyone would rather avoid an unplanned stay on the hard shoulder.

Knowing that something could go wrong within the engine before it actually happens could save expensive repairs as well as planning a repair before a component breaks.

By taking a sample of the engine oil and analysing it, contaminants and metals can be found within the oil which can indicate the health of an engine or that a component is about to fail.

The MOTUL Oil Analysis Service provides a full report on the sampled engine oil to give you a picture on the health of your engine or gearbox in your bike or car.

Take a small sample using the tubing and syringe provided and add it into the sample pot. Post the sample and form provided in the pre-paid envelope and the lab will test it. Once the analysis is complete, the report will be given to the MOTUL UK Technical Manager who will break the good news or bad news.

Although this doesn’t provide a fix to any issues that might be occurring within the engine, it could save money and time in the future. There might also be some product recommendations that can be made to prevent future issues.

The Rover 200 & 400 Owners Club recently began a restoration project of two Rovers that they hoped to sell and donate the proceeds to charity.

An old man owned one of the cars in question and he had only used it to drive to and from the pub, which was a mile down the road. After he died, his family knew nothing about the history of the car and what state it was in.

To get an idea of what the club was working with and whether a whole engine rebuild would be necessary, they used a MOTUL Oil Analysis kit for an engine health report. After receiving the report from the sample sent off, it confirmed that the engine was in almost perfect health- even if the outside was neglected.

John Batchelor, Rover 200 & 400 Owners Club Chairperson said, “Although it looked pretty bad from the outside, it turned out it was perfect from a mechanical perspective. We tried another oil analysis on a car we thought was looked after and it turned out we needed a whole engine rebuild!”
